Pithoragarh: An acute water crisis has hit Gangolighat in Pithoragarh as the water supply in the town has been disrupted for the last six days. Residents say they are struggling to find water even for daily basic needs as many were seen queuing up in front of hand pumps.
Officials of Jal Sansthan on Saturday said the transformer in the pumping station in Salikhet had broken down due to a thunderstorm a few days back.
The officials said a mechanic has been called to repair the transformer. “The mechanic had reached on Friday itself, but due to rain, the repair work has not been completed. If there is no rain, the transformer will be repaired on Sunday,” Rupesh Arya, junior engineer, Jal Sansthan Gangolihat, told TOI.
